COMPUTER MEASURING SYSTEMS

THEME:  Metrological definitions in computer measuring systems
1.Metrological provision of computer measuring instruments and systems. Basic concepts for measurement errors in experimental studies.
2.Probability processes - statistical processing and analysis of measurement information.
3.Calibration and metrological control in computers and computerized measuring instruments.

THEME:
 Conversion and processing of information in computer measuring systems

4.Converting analog information into digital form - sampling and quantization of continuous variables.
5.Specifics of the sampling process in time domain. Errors of overlay and scrambled signals.
6.Orthogonal transformations on the measurement signals. Standard and Fast Fourier Transform.
7.Application of digital filtration and window functions in the processing of measuring signals.

THEME:   Analog-to-digital converters in computer measuring systems
8.Analog-to-digital converters in computer measuring systems. Conversion principle and implementation methods  - Parallel ADCs with direct conversion; ADC by the sequential approximation method; ADC with linear variable voltage generators ; Delta-Sigma ADC.
9.Characteristics and parameters of ADC - Accuracy; Resolution; Linearity; Noise; Calibration; Digital heuristic methods to reduce measurement noise.

THEME:   Visualization of signals in computer measuring devices
10.Digital oscilloscopy. Summarized structural schemes and operating principles.
11.Digital oscilloscopes and spectral analyzers built on the digital signal processors embedded in personal computers.

THEME:   Measurement of frequency-time signal parameters
12.Direct digital methods for measuring the frequency - time parameters using interfaces to PC. Measurement frequency, period, time intervals, phase differences and frequency ratio; Principles of operation and measurement errors.
13.Measurement of frequency-time parameters based on embedded digital signal processors on PCs.

THEME:   Synthesis of stimulating measuring signals
14.Basic characteristics of the stimulating signal generators. Generators of stimulating signals - basic types and characteristics. Structural schemes and operating principles.
15.Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC) – methods for conversion. Features, specifications, options, schemes and principle of operation.
16.Digital synthesis of stimulating signals. Generators with Direct Digital Synthesis.

THEME:  Measuring parameters of passive and active elements
17.Measurement of passive and reactive two-wire elements – principles. Methods for their measurement based on PC as a measuring complex.
18."Stimulating - Measuring Unit" – measuring equivalent of the minimal conjunctival or disjunctive form. Synoptic and structural design. Organization and PC connection. Principle of operation and programming modes.
19.Computer systems for functional and dynamic tests of digital integrated circuits. Logical and signature analysis of digital integrated circuits and digital devices. Principles of operation, measurement schemes, organization and sequence of testing procedures.

THEME: Computer measuring complexes and systems
20.Integration of systems measuring instruments to computer measurement systems. Communication protocols. Standard measuring ( GPIB, RS485, VXI и VME.)  and industrial interfaces (CAN, DeviceNet, Foundation Fieldbus PROFIBUS.).
21.Verification and reliability of the measurement information. Analysis of guaranteed performance and accuracy of computer measuring systems. Systems analysis of performance and accuracy.
22.Application of object-oriented software environments in computer measuring systems and automation systems - Visual Studio, LabWindows/CVI, LabView. Plug & Play measuring modules.Features of hardware and software organization
